Editor's Verdict:

Workouts for You focus on finding the perfect workouts for you (hence the name), meaning exercise routines that will suit your current fitness level, lifestyle, activity preferences and goals, properly paced and organized on a schedule you can realistically maintain over the long run. They are particularly good at helping you exercise smart as well as hard. This allows you to avoid the common mistakes that lead many people to choose the wrong workout program, then find they’re not getting the results they’d hoped for, inevitably lose heart and give up on fitness training entirely.

The website offers a combination of both general good health and lifestyle advice and specific tactics designed to meet your personal fitness goals, whether you want to beef up or slim down, increase your stamina ready for a charity marathon or look your best in a wedding dress. And quite a bit of this useful information is available on the website before you even sign up or pay them a cent. Overall, the site is well-designed and easy to navigate, although slightly disjointed with small pictures and text captions floating around, fraturing the overall visual impression. However, one significant strength with the Workouts For You website is that everything you need to know is laid out for you up front. It provides more useful information and explanations about the service it offers, and how this works, than most other subscription-based fitness websites we've seen.

There are four basic levels of membership, each promising a greater degree of customization and personal attention (as their titles, which all end in “for you” suggest). So Workouts For you offer more overall choice than most fitness schemes tend to. To the website's credit, what each package offers is spelt out for you in great detail so you’ll know exactly what to expect before you sign up, although sorting through all that information can take a while, so luckily there’s also a handy summary table.

The duration of membership you pay for also affects the value for money you’ll be getting, so it is difficult to generalize about how the prices here compare to those of other fitness websites. Generally, though, you pay for the degree of personalization and support you want – the cheaper packages mostly allow you access to automated tools and information resources, so they cost you (and the website) very little. On the other hand, actually employing a human being to take time out to customize your program and coach you individually costs a lot more.

The value for money provided by the cheaper packages is fine, but as you go up the scale, that of the higher-end options compares less and less favorably to the websites nearer the top of our top ten. This is not because Workouts For You charges an unfair amount for its premium services, but because the internet fitness site market has yet to establish how much is considered reasonable to charge for what services. This means you can get a lot more for a lot less if you take a little time to shop around (or better yet, check out No.1 reviews before you shell out any cash). Some of our reviewed sites freely provide some features that the cheaper Workouts For You packages charge you money for.

Even so, bear in mind that having an online personal trainer can certainly be a worthwhile investment. This is especially true if you know you are the sort of person whose resolve and willpower are prone to flagging, in which case the encouragement, discipline and know-how this can offer can make all the difference between getting fit and staying fat. This also offers you increased accountability in that you will be held responsible for your progress by your trainer as well as by yourself – if you miss a session it is not just yourself you’re letting down. If you are a well-organized and self-motivated person, however, one of the cheaper options may well give you everything you need, and even if you do decide to sign up for a personal trainer online there are other sites that offer you just as much support for a lot less money.

Having said that, enjoying a healthier lifestyle and improved levels of energy and self-esteem is a bargain at almost any price, and there are certainly worse options around than signing up with Workouts For You.
