Editor's Review:

When it comes to free fitness videos, TrainOnline.com is going to be hard to beat. There are hundreds of well shot videos with expert advice on how to perform them safely. You can also follow or develop workout plans by adding exercises to your list of favorites. Whilst the site is lacking in dietary information and a couple of extra features, you’ll be pushed to find a more professional fitness website which offers so much for free.

You can access a lot of the site’s content without signing up at all, although if you want to talk to others on the forums, create workouts and track your favorite exercises, you’ll need an account. Membership is actually very affordable at around $20 for a whole year. This is less than you’ll pay for a month’s membership on some fitness websites.

Your dashboard is the starting point, allowing you to control your account and keep a check on your activities. When you discover an exercise you like the sound of, simply watch the video and then click “add to favorites”. This exercise will then be stored and you can add it to your workouts later on.

If you’re new to the site you might wish to simply follow pre-designed workouts. These are described simply and you can also see the difficulty level of each session. Some workouts require equipment, which can be expensive, and unfortunately the site doesn’t sell the necessary tools to help you. If you require workout equipment, you’ll have to buy it elsewhere.

More advanced members will find workouts to suit them, but may wish to create more of their own workouts. Unfortunately you cannot upload your own videos, so you are stuck with the selection of exercises provided by the site’s team. However, they may be open to uploading new videos based on your recommendations, and new exercises are added regularly.

The Fitness101 section of TrainOnline.com will be very useful to you if you’re new to using a fitness website. It provides a lot of information on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, the sorts of equipment you may need, and how to set up schedules. We do feel that the lack of dietary information can be a problem and we recommend looking at some of the other sites we’ve reviewed to find one which will offer reliable resources on nourishment and recipes.

There’s an active community built on this site. You can chat on a range of topics, and the forums appear to be in good use. There’s also a blog to follow the latest updates from the world of fitness.

Train Online should appear fully functional on a range of mobile devices, which makes it great for training in the home or at the gym. Exercises are designed with different locations in mind and you can even find some which have been developed for the beach or street.

All things considered, Train Online is a great resource. If you have no money, you can still check out loads of great exercise videos. If you can afford the very small membership fee, you can utilize some simple but effective tools to create workouts. We’d like to see a calendar feature and more information regarding nutrition, but over all, it does a good job of providing exercises and workouts online.
